and when she speaks

Sunday, February 08, 2009

It's been such a PACKED 3 days since coming home.

First day
: dearest daddy's birthday celebration with all the aunties over for lunch
Sze-Sze's chocolate chip & orange lemon cupcakes made with alphabets saying happy Birthday daddy =) was a huge hit with the guests. Lots of food til' all the aunties were glad it's a yearly occassion ;) Met up with Evan and Andrea in what seemed like ages! We were all lamenting how old we've become now that we're all entering the workforce this year ;)

Second day: Mum's cousins. Hau Jia; a friend from New York who was in KL that day dropped by; he was definitely fed well ;)

A conversation which we (me, my second sister Sze-Sze and Hau Jia) had:-

SzeSze: So do you know how to play chor tai di?

Hau Jia: Yeah

Sze-Sze: (frankly and bluntly) : So did you bring money?

Hau Jia: (I laughed out loud at Sze-Sze's frank candidness): *pause* Yes...... and I also have my credit card.

We all laughed at this point.

I stepped in and said 'My sister is very direct and straight forward' LOL
...and I continued (pointing to Hau Jia): He's a sugar daddy to the ladies in New York, so you better take advantage of him whilst he's still here.

Sze-Sze: Oh really... *and laughed some more*
Hau Jia: 'Yeah, and I can recruit you'

...at this point, I intercepted and jokingly said NO ;)

This morning, my dearest childhood friend Sing Wei (whom I've known since pampers-hood :p) came with Auntie Fei Tze. I thought I'd have missed seeing him, with him taking off to Perth before I arrived home, so it was a wonderful surprise =) Hey Sing Wei, if you're reading this, I'm so glad we got to meet up before you fly off tomorrow morning! =) We'll see who comes with a partner during our next meet-up next CNY! ;)

He said this to me twice before he left;
'I have a strong feeling the next time we meet, you'll be with a guy' -.-'
We had such a great time jamming in our music room with Sing Wei and Syeyi doing their thing on the music instruments while Sze-Sze and I belted our vocals =) The uncles and aunties were enjoying our music making in the open dining hall next door ;)

Can't wait to load all the wicked photos we took with our hot sunnies ;)

Red nails. Pizza night. Sleeping in sleeping bags in our TV room. Watching an old rerun of Chinese vampire movie. Laughing at Donnie Yen's hilarious antics in Painted Skin. Jamming together with Sing Wei with the piano and guitar and all our beautiful voices in harmony =) Michael Jackson dessert. Red wine. Lots and lots of HAKKA ham cha which was diarrhea-inducing for the past 2 nights -.-'. Marinated chicken wings. Colourful cupcakes. Auntie Linda brought over expensive durian and dark chocolate cake slices which cost about $9 per piece for daddy's birthday =) which were absolutely lip-smacking! Auntie Fei Tze, Sing Wei and Auntie Joyce's entire family coming by =) Adrian korkor's interrogation by us about his "multi-dating" He said I could drop by his studio in Bangsar and meet up for dinner since I'll be working near his apartment *cool *

Going to the wet market with mummy was an experience.

Everyone knew mum and would stop by staring at me (since I haven't been seen with mum for ages, they don't know who I am) and say 'Oh is she your daughter? So pretty....' and then mummy would proudly add 'Yeah, and she's a doctor too' -.-' the conversation would continue for a bit more... with me ultimately hiding behind her after the umpteenth time...

We went through this with at least 4 store mongers.*oh brother* I wanted to leave as soon as possible.

Mummy laughed telling daddy that the usually noisy and loud pork seller was unusually shy and soft-spoken this time -.-' *haiyor*

Auntie Fei Tze laughed at this when mummy told her I was rushing to get away... and said 'Of course mummy will be proud'!

Everyone who came today had such a fantastic time, and that includes us; the host =) I'm so glad they love coming here. You know what's funny? Our house is the meeting place for all of our different groups of friends. Dad says it's because our house is so open, warm and welcoming to everyone!

Anyway, the sisters and I had such a good chat this evening. It's been so long. How I miss sharing all our stories and gossips and laughing as crazily together, unashamed with being kooky and uninhibited ;)
The Lai sisters bond is unbreakable.
