It's been pouring the whole day.But that didn't stop us three feisty and hungry babes from visiting a Chinese Buffet restaurant at Bayer's Lake that is one hour away by bus :)I was soooo excited.I ate a lot, but I could swallow more if they gave me more time ;)The Chinese restaurant owner- a man in his late forties, came to me and told me he was hiring employees. My friends mentioned we live too far away, in Halifax, to work here.I told him I was a med student. We were just being friendly and courteous in our conversation together. And ...Later, he asked for my contact number- wondering if I would work if he opened up a branch at Halifax. That was very weird.Anyway-Rayleen's talent at make up is amazing! She played with this swish of uplifted eyelash at the outer corner of my eyes with the eyeliner and at first, I wasn't used to it... but then I fell in love with it! :)Off we went, conquering the rain, running from supermarts to pet shops to bus stops with flop-sided umbrella and wet, soaking jeans. For Sam, it was more dropping jeans that were getting looser and looser as the rain pressed on ;)I had a blast today, even with the wet cold that pierced through my butt and jeans- thanks to you girls :)

A lot of salmon. And other raw fishy stuff. Was a bit worried I was going to puke because honestly, I never really liked these sort of food when I go to sushi restaurants. I stick to my usual unadventurous stuff like fish egg rolls, california rolls or the unagi/teriyaki chicken/black pepper fish with rice set and that keeps me more than happy :)So tonight's dinner was really something else. I told Kien Ji that I was feeling a lil *queasy* after my 4th salmon piece and he looked worried and told me to down a lot of hot green tea. *he was afraid I'd puke at him since he was sitting across me ;)*Then we headed to Starbucks- something he never does, because it's against his principle LOL. He has this thing against Coffee Bean, Secret Recipe and Starbucks- but has nothing against spending in Palace of the Golden Horses instead ;pBut I managed to get him in Starbucks anyway ;)So, Kien Ji- my cheeky-thinks-he's-so-hot- male buddy; you walked me home. I'm proud of you ;)

I had a pregnancy test done today. What a relief when the results came back!LOL. Nope, not a relief for me *don't worry* - that test was part of the things I had to go through for this vaccine research clinical trial which I'm in. It was a relief for the nurse whom I was working with, she was afraid the pregnancy test kit wouldn't work because the girl next door couldn't get any results on hers.Later, I had a needle poked in... and after waiting for a few seconds, no blood streamed out...So, she pushed it deeper. Then deeper still...Still no signs of that red fluid. I was wondering if I lacked blood at that point, LoL.Then, she took it out, inserted it under my skin again. Still no luck.
After a few tries of pulls and pushes... *during which I proceeded to start small talk*
She exclaimed finally 'I think the needle is beside your vein'I said 'Good :)'She took it out once more and pushed it in, this time, into the vein- cos blood spilled out fast into the tube. Then, another prick for the day.She said 'I will remember you. You're my first patient for this trial and you did an extremely good job' ;) I don't mind needles. I like looking at how they prick me, so I learn the best, least painful technique for my patients the next time I get a chance to prick. I think I've got it down pat too :) - after being pricked by a few fellow student nurses back home.

Spent my early morning walking a friend's puppy, Smoky, with my two femme babes. Then, off to grocery shopping. Then, sped off to Rayleen's job meeting at Perks' Coffee downtown.I'm so proud I walked so much, I've got my blisters to prove it too ;)We were then roped in by one of her colleagues; a photographer who's also a PhD student, as models by the harborfront.Shyness is a no-no in a model's world. You've got to be bold. And more importantly, you've got to be a good poser. Preferably one with thick-skin, because we caught stares everywhere we went with the camera snapping away in the public eye.But we had a great time. And Thank god for my friends who were there guiding me :) "sit up straight, don't hunch!neck up, shoulder back don't be shy!"Girly chit-chats through the evening ...And two scary movies at night at the boys' with pizza and a chocolate cake torte-ended the night. It's been a wonderful weekend *muacks*

A rainy Saturday.Spent almost three quarters of the day in bed, sleeping curled up under my warm duvet. The rain really changes your day plans because it gets so cold, you just want to lie in the comfort and warmth of your own fuzzy bed.Woke up at 7.30pm and made plans for the night.Headed out with Sam to her friends' birthday party at Locas, downtown.Sam treated me to a drink, so in turn I treated her to McDs' vanilla ice cream cone ;)Then, we headed off to the boys' and left for ice cream and Citadell's Hill.It was freezing cold, to the extent our lips were numb. I told the boys the thing that hangs outside falls off first when you get frostbite ;)But the two nuts Sid and Sam were still energetic by midnight so they suggested we brave the cold and head for the hill-where obviously the wind is the strongest and the cold, to me, unbearable. And, that's after we each have had an ice cream from McDs, to make it even more interesting.Walking in summer and freezing under two thick jumpers, tells you a lot about the weather here in Canada.I said 'Come winter, I'll buy heat packs and paste it all over my body before I step outside'I'm happy now because my dear ol' heater is comfortably switched on.
