Thanksgiving weekend was amazing. I had such a great time with my closest friends. * Thanksgiving night @ Zoe's who graciously hosted us hungry ghosts :) Amazing feast :) personalised red velvet by the host herself! ;) and I ate and ate and ate =) * Christine and I hung out, did some grocery shopping- and went back to her place where she experimented on my face with her make-up skills. SHe joked I looked 26 with the sophisticated make-up look! *laughs*
* Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Walked right into Fareed and Roselyn when I hopped onto the Orange line, exactly at the right cubicle too *lol* Blachy kept me company for half the night at the orchestra when Roselyn was told to be Doc of the House at the Opera instead :( *but Blachy was super sweet!*
* Off for dinner to CHeesecake Factory. Drinks+nachos+jambalayas+ Oreo CHeesecake!* Schaumburg with Christine+ Ikea for shot glasses (winks) a new table, lamp, kitchen essentials, and my favorite: hot CINNAMON bun :) Went to visit her friend, who has an adorable 3 month old baby. Then, went out for dinner at CoopersHawk with Allison, and drank yummy margaritas :) and had a night in at her place with chocolates, hot chocolate and Wii ;)
* Sunday afternoon- fellowships discussion. Beard Papa's custard cream puff ;) Pan-asian late lunch at Simply Thalia. Beautiful decor, but food was blah.* Off to Michigan Avenue- The Water Tower to shop at Victoria's Secret. We both went crazy! And then, had hot chocolate at Ghirardelli's!
* Made up my apartment. And I'm going to throw a dinner party! It's too cosy to waste it away whilst it's still not too cold, and whilst I'm still not too busy!
After all- whats the use if you don't open your house to people. Good things are meant to be shared! :)
Today I called up the BLOOD journal people. Persisted and looked up case report examples, to which there were no recent ones! So I called her again, and asked for an example- she said she didn't have any. I was assertive, I had to be. Then, she finally asked me over exasperation, 'WHY are you doing this? Whats the purpose?' I explained myself over and over again. And she gave more inside recommendations. I was so so thankful. I immediately paged my two attendings to let them know. Later after work, I walked over to Dr Venu- and he said to me 'Sue, I like your perseverance'.I smiled. He continued 'Don't worry, we'll get it published'. I asked whether we should give it one more shot. He said Yes, we should. I quote him 'You worked so hard on this, we should give it our all, and try it'. I felt moved inside. I agreed 'Let's give it one more shot'. We both looked at each other in complete mutual understanding. Then, he said 'You are determined. That's good. I like it. It's all about perseverance'. I smiled back 'It's all about the journey, isn't it, Dr Venu?' He smiled back :)
I am so thankful and blessed to have his support.
