Carlos and I were partnered for our BLS testing with Karen.Carlos is from Paraguay- and he laughed when I used 'Muchos gracias' to Karen. And he told me, Spanish is his main language as well - I revealed my ex-landlord was a Spanish language teacher ;PAfter we finished our test, Karen exclaimed to me 'OOh you're so cute' and she came over and gave me a tight squishy hug :) *hahahaha which was totally unexpected*Carlos asked me later on; 'How long have you known her?'"As long as you have" lol...He was flabbergasted I supposed- and he said 'You seem so friendly.....' *laughs* I've made some good friends- from all over. Slovakia. Paraguay. Brazil. and Philippines ;)Yesterday:-Burger at world-famous BillyGoat's Tavern.Amazing Fireworks at Navy Pier to mark summer!! :) It was the best fireworks show I've ever seen. A live experience; so close by to see and feel the thrill and the electricity!

After one night of not sleeping and burning the midnight oil to study, I scored 100% :) Well, I only had the study materials the day before - because I arrived much later ... so I was happy :)
Met up with Luke and Paulina- headed over to :-Lie down on the green green grass at Millenium Park.Under the scorching sun and clear blue sky.Paulina pulled her shirt up to sun-tan. And there I was, being the total opposite trying to shade myself :) Had an enormous ice-cream cone (cookies and cream :) ) and enjoyed myself immensely.Just lying down - actually, Luke provided great shade *muahaha*- and resting my exhausted brain. We lied there for hours. Whilst our neighbouring grass-enjoyers were playing frisbee, football, playing music on their small radio, reading books, just enjoying the atmosphere :)It was beautiful :)

Aaron (IMU senior; acquainted thanks to Vic :)) took me out to dinner at Cheesecake factory downtown. He kept on insisting I can afford an expensive apartment - I quote him "You have no commitments.no kids. what else is there to spend on?"I make only about $2600 a month, rent here is exorbitant! ranging from $1000-1300 for a measly studio about 400-500sq feet!! Can u imagine?Walked through Streeterville and saw breathtaking Lake Michigan. The scenic view was impressive- all lush greens, people rollerblading, just strolling alongside, the beach, the sun setting... Walked through the city- it felt just like Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue in New York. I loved every moment of it.I could just stand there in the middle and imagine the whole world spinning around me :)I absorbed it all in ; imagining me living right smack in the middle of all this life.enthusiasm.shopping.excitement.food.sophisitication-personified :)I want to live here. And live this life. Why not eh? :) I WILL. I told Aaron I will. Well, he's already living here, so.... *he definitely advocates it* LOLHe gave me insider tips on starting internship :) and he's kindly offered to drive me around on Sat for apartment-hunting!!! :) :)

Arrived on Saturday afternoon.Internet down at home. Brian and Sandy have been amazing- really accomodating and super helpful! After 25 hours of flying, my handphone batt died upon arriving at Chicago's airport- I couldn't get in touch with Brian. The public phone wouldn't accept my credit card for some reason :( and the currency exchanger wouldnt change my Korean coins (I transitted there) to US coins :( though I only needed an extra 10 cents more -.-' But a really kind samaritan heard me and offered his phone! *hehe* Phoned Brian up- they were on the other side of the airport -then, they both came to pick me up- and helped me drag 40 kilos of luggage to the other side of the city by train :) Honestly,if I was on my own and IF brian hadn't offered to pick me up, it would have been so much harder and - draining too.. Thats why they say it's always good to have a friend in need... I am really thankful :)
Yesterday, woke up early and checked out RUSH. Met up with Luke, a med student from Newcastle who was introduced by Carol I was starving by the time we found out where I needed to be (for MOnday's sessions) so we ended up checking out this famous breakfast place nearby but it had a half hour waiting time. Because I was as hungry as a horse and obviously verbalised it - he offered to make eggs- *laughs*
I said 'I'm so mean la, we just met- and you're cooking for me? hahaha I DONT MIND'
See- thats how thick-skin I am! -.-' *the horror right?*So he made eggs and cheese. *yummy*Then, we went to Rush's library cos I needed internet access and a printer for my pretesting.Nada. We walked to a ghetto area (for a freaking half an hour to 40 mins!) to find an internet cafe he googled. It was bloody closed! So frustrated, we took a bus and train to the city to hit the Chicago Public library and that one required an hour's wait before a computer was free !Buzzed up David Park as a measure of desperation for the Internet and printer for my certificate of completion of BLS -.-'Thankfully, he was going to be at home in the evening, and he agreed to help out :) :)Luke met up with his other classmate from UK- Paulina. And we three had fun, we went for deep dish pizza at the famous Pizzeria Uno. Then an absolutely mouth-watering, sinful, super calorie-laden CHEESECAKE. the best hands down. but 100% butter, maybe that explains why it tastes sooo good ;) Then, we went to MIllenium Park and enjoyed the music blaring in the open outdoor park.. where everyone was lying on the huge laid-out green grass; with wine and good food =) Barely slept more than 5 hours last night.Need some tonight ;)xoxoxoI know mum and dad have been so worried for me. After arriving at brian's place and charging my dead phone- I found 6 missed calls and plenty of voice mail and a couple of really concerned sms-es.I cannot believe I cried again at the airport. I hate being such a baby, especially in public. It's embarassing. Auntie Linda and Vanessa came to send me off- with the entire family troopof course :) I burst out and it all came flowing. Despite me being a seasoned pro at this. I love my family to bits and I never get used to leaving home. I love mum and dad and the three monkeys and yiyi & uncle too :) :) Mummy phoned me up, and she told me 'It's so quiet in the house without you' I told them so... *laughs* she said they're not used to it :p
Mummy, daddy and monkeys- thank you for always being there for me. I love U! :) :) :)
