Long weekend. Absolutely glorious.A time to catch up on sleep (not exactly) and to catch up with people.Saturday: Dim sum brunch and Thai supperSunday: Ice cream, ferry ride to Dartmouth because my resident has NEVER taken the ferry before as he's been blessed with a fancy car, and then off to dinner at STayner's Wharf by the harborfront.Tomorrow: Girls' night out and an ice breaker with Anna's boyfriend- *heheh* so that should be good. 3 girls vs a guy who sleeps with no underpants on... ;)I'm going to go nap now... :)

Just the other night, I was on call with Vic Bonn, a classmate of mine.A heart-rending revelation from her made me realise people always have a story to tell. That might be why they put on a facade which you never understood in the beginning...That is why it is so important to never assume and never judge. Oh man... she quoted that so many times that night. 'My dad always says in his low gruff voice; never assume'...I was like 'Oh Vic, you're being like my mum!' 'I know all this already!'And she went on repeating that three times, I believe.
We had such a great time, with the coolest residents on call. And she taught me so much...
Anyhow, call night was extremely unhealthy- we had Tim Hortons timbits, teddy bear jelly, oatmeal raisin cookies and cake. "How come doctors don't live by their philosophy of health promotion ahhh ???" in my thickest Malaysian accent. Don't ask me.Yesterday, Jeff asked me what I wanted to be. I said 'You insulted me the last time I told you.'So I reminded him again. I want to do Dermatology. He was like 'What?! You're too smart for derm. All they do is prescribe steroids'I reminded him again of skin cancer and skin autoimmune disease... He still didn't buy it.He told me to go into Internal Medicine. And then hopefully 3 years down the road, I'll find something else I like and not do DERM...Then he asked why am I not working in Canada? I said the working visa is way too complicated compared to the US. He said 'Marry a Canadian.'Then unhappily asked 'What's wrong with Canadians?'Nothing wrong! I remarked. Then?"I am not dating right now..." which is true... I'm just going out meeting new fellas and I don't think that constitutes dating at all. Plus I only have like more months in Halifax. He said pick one and marry him for a few years then leave. I was obviously appalled. Then he said ' or.. Live with someone- a housemate'...Worse still, he proceeded to say 'Or marry a Canadian girl.'I dont think you can go any further than lesbo marriage...He was wayyy nuts from studying too hard. For sure. But I had a good laugh.Bonn also tried to sell me the idea of staying put in Canada and she said I will love Toronto......
