A 19 yr old :

Finding her niche in the passionate world of white coats and stethoscopes.

Missing Malaysian food so badly, that she drowns her sorrow by surfing food blogs.

Who watches scary movies only with friends who have high pain threshold (from all that pinching)

Who has very cold extremities, ask my stimulated patients, oops sorry, "simulated patients"

Who loves a good laugh with candid, thick-skinned friends

Who cannot stay surrounded by 4 walls for more than a few hours

Who loves her loved ones so so much

4 more weeks and I am D.O.N.E.

I cannot wait.

I find it's both fast and slow at the same time. Too soon because there seems like hardly enough time to squeeze in time for both friends and electives.residency application.letter writing.studying for exams. Period. And too slow, because I can't wait to be done with the exams and head over to a new place and give it my best in the Big Apple and explore new horizons.

I have made some new friends here just these few months and they've been super solid and made me laugh so hard & feel so relaxed when there seems to be like a tonne on my shoulder.
It's amazing :) Then again, I think I'm pretty good la with stress management. I try to take it easy - no point in stressing out. A close friend once said it'll always work out in the end.

Just came back from a chilling girls' evening out and now it's back to nerding Sue Sue ;)

I was walking home tonight alone...
and I suddenly looked up at the sky.

Time paused for awhile while I realised there was a beautiful gleaming full moon.
Then, it hit me- it's mooncake festival back at home.

All the lotus mooncake that I am MISSING. minus the egg yolk :)

I stood still, in the breeze of the wind, surrounded by the hospital's garden.
Just watching the moon, and enjoying the view of the white translucent fog passing through the sky.

I hadn't looked up at the moon for awhile now. In fact, I don't think I've ever looked up at the sky when I walk home every night from the library...

I'm glad I unconsciously decided to look up tonight.
I thought about grandpa up there, wondering if he was looking down at me, watching me walk home alone, keeping his eyes on his grand-daughter...

I bet he was. That thought brought a smile inside me...
Mum said she dreamt of him wearing a batik shirt and grandma all dressed up, as if they were going somewhere fancy later on... and then, they disappeared from her dream.

They must be having a ball up there, holding hands and catching up on romantic dates.

STORY,

It's amazing what friends can do for you when you're away from the comforts of home sweet home.

Friends who call you to make sure you're doing ok. Obviously non medical friends in this instance.

Friends who continuously remind you to study Sueyi study.
And some friends who think I study too hard and say no Sueyi you should be relaxing more... Those friends, I tell them, NOOO-you're not supposed to be making me any lazier than I already am.

Friends who accompany you or go shopping with you when you are desperately needing to get something which requires taking a bus ride far away despite only an hour's notice, knowing my busy work schedule.

Friends who call you out for a ridiculous funny movie night out to chill your mind and order take-out pizza or who go on night walks with you out in the moonlight breeze.

Friends who cook for you and ask you to pack them home for yourself. Friends' mums who do the same...

Friends who walk you to your home even though it's quite a distance for them to go back, just to make sure you are safe.

Friends who want you to keep them company.

Friends who make waffles for you for breakfast, and knowing your stomach hunger pangs hit at every hour, they take you out for ice-cream and pastry hunting :)

Friends who are comfortable being around you, being with you.

Friends who hear me whine and complain on MSN.

Friends who are direct and brutally honest in their opinions and don't beat around the bush.

Friends who give you hugs in return for hugs with regards to work stresses or exam worries or medical school blues...
---

1. London trip -uncertain status. You know I'm coming over to stay at your place since you can cook so well ;) hehehe... You promised on MSN :)
2. Hopefully, Perth is on the destination list next Feb/March. There's a list of friends to visit and places on a checklist to go explore ;)
3. Next May when I'm back here waiting to don my graduation coat and get my M.D. degree, there will be an all Malaysian gathering in US. A roadtrip around US, then my dear? ;)
